As much as the old school, cheesy sitcoms on CBS/NBC/ABC suck...... |

I have to say that I think Sheldon in Big Bang Theory is one of the best characters in prime time in YEARS. He absolutely outshines the others and is well written and acted. He's up there with Latka, the Fonz, Rota and Horshack and Archie bunker

I tune into that show to see Sheldon. The real mark of a good performance is that I saw the actor on Rachel Ray, I was surprised that he seemed like such a nice, normal guy. I live with an actor, and shouldn't be surprised to realize "oh, that's right, Sheldon is just a character".
That show makes me happy - I wish it were still on Mondays - it used to brighten my Mondays.

But I too will say that Archie Bunker is still the iconic sitcom character.

7. In Canada it was spelled "Rota" due to a coopywrite issue. |
