Question about Atlanta. I'm going to Atlanta for 3 days (Business). |
|
I was looking at motels and such and thought: Damn, I don't know beans about Atlanta or its suburbs ... ..I hate to book a Motel/hotel and then find out it's in the middle of "Drug Central" I'll be doing business on 3353 peachtree road northeast. I'll be driving my car so distance is not a big deal.
Any areas I should avoid ?
Note: Yes..even St Petersburg has a few "spots" that I wouldn't allow my worst enemy to visit. :)

1. I'm staying on the south side - Virginia Ave area, near the airport. Definitely avoid |
|
Some good places to eat, but definitely not the greatest area after dark.
If you're going to be in the northeast part, Buckhead is a pretty good area. Peachtree road runs right through there, I believe.
I used to stay in midtown (Piedmont Park area) a lot years ago. A pretty decent area, but would be a real traffic commute for you getting to work.
That's about as much as I know. I'm pretty sure we have some people who actually live here in the lounge. Hopefully they can give you some more detailed info.

3. That area is a mess right now. Stay nearby!... |
|
Unless time is not important. The area is under construction (lanes closures, metal plates, they are putting in a streetscape) and it's a very busy location under regular conditions. I'd pick a hotel near Lenox Mall and just walk where you need to go. There are plenty of hotels in that area. If you decide to stay near the airport and drive in, leave yourself plenty of time.
DON'T pick some out of the way suburb and base your drive time by mileage cause it just doesn't work that way.
If I can be of any help once you pinpoint an area, let me know.
