My wife has gotten her surgery date |
|
She will have breast removal surgery on March 30th. Truth be told I was getting tired of not knowing. She will have 6 weeks of recovery and if all goes well reconstruction later in the year.

Both of you hang in there. I'm five years out, and doing great! Have you mentioned her surgery here before? I must have totally missed it. Check out the cancer forum, also.

2. thanks for the kind words |

My wife has been fantastic during this whole ordeal. She even asked me what size I wanted the replacements. I have to tell you that I wasn't expecting that question and didn't know how to answer. Then she looked at me and we both laughed.

You both sound like it'll be alright. Just be with her through it all.

I retired from the fire department last June after her ovarian cancer diagnosis. I felt that I had to be there for her chemo and doctor visits. I'm glad I did it because I don't think I could've kept my mind on work and her at the same time.

12. Be on the look out for lymphedema if she had lymph nodes removed. |
|
She'll really have to be careful with the arm on the affected side, because there are quite a few things that can cause lymphedema. Lifting heavy objects, flying, getting a hard hit on the arm, insect stings and surgery are among a few of the things that can set it off. There's a lot of good sites that explain all this in better detail. Mine was set off by lifting a box that was too heavy.
Best wishes for you both.

13. I'm sorry she is (and you are) going through this, but... |
|
. . . ...I know from experience that sometimes waiting and not knowing what will happen (and/or when) is far more stressful and painful than when you have a timeline and a plan of action charted out. . . . Stay strong -- I think it's GREAT that you are proactively researching, too. Two people can get through this a far sight better than just one. . . . Keep letting her know that she's beautiful... and why. . . .
