6. A salute to bad asses
It's a shame he's no longer with us. I can't think of a better composer for John Carter of Mars.

3. Welcome to L.A.
Legendary soundtrack, total dreck movie. My college roommate had the soundtrack (which you could only get through a studio connection), and I loved it. I listened to it over and over. Then the movie was on Cinemax or Showtime about a decade later, and I just had to see it. Sweet Jesus, I would rather run white hot knitting needles through my eyeballs rather than do THAT again. I haven't heard the music in ages, but I can still remember lots of the tunes and lyrics. Every now and then, I check to see if it's in print somewhere (it isn't). I would pay several dollars for a CD.

Other soundtracks that I love (and enjoy the movie) include "Inception", "Marie Antoinette" and "The Mission"

13. Second that. Ry Cooder nailed that one.
The movie was ok, Joe Seneca and Joe Morton pretyy much carried it, but the head-cutting duel alone was worth watching the film.

11. The Mission
Actually, Morricone has created a bunch of great scores for some pretty mediocre movies.

12. Field of Dreams
Actually the movie isn't bad/ Just pretty sappy. Also, the original Batman movie=soundtrack by Danny Elfman. And the OST to "Local Hero" by Mark Knopfler is as good as the movie.

14. Rockers
The soundtrack is superb but the flick fell short of what it could have been. Would have, could have, should have.

Side one

1. "We 'A' Rockers" (Ian Lewis, Bernard Harvey) - Inner Circle
2. "Money Worries" (Wilson) - The Maytones
3. "Police and Thieves" (Junior Murvin, Lee Perry) - Junior Murvin
4. "Books of Rules" (Barry Llewellyn, Harry Johnson) - The Heptones
5. "Stepping Razor" (Joe Higgs) - Peter Tosh
6. "Tenement Yard" (Jacob Miller, Roger Lewis) - Jacob Miller
7. "Fade Away" (Earl "Chinna" Smith) - Junior Byles

Side two

1. "Rockers" (Neville Livingstone) - Bunny Wailer
2. "Slave Master" (Gregory Isaacs) - Gregory Isaacs
3. "Man in the Street" (Coxsone Dodd) - Rockers All Stars
4. "Graduation in Zion" (Frank Dowding) - Kiddus I
5. "Jah No Dead" (Winston Rodney) - Burning Spear
6. "Satta Massagana" (L. Manning, D. Manning, B. Collins) - The Abyssinians
7. "Natty Take Over" (Justin Hines, Michael Roper) - Justin Hines & the Dominoes

17. soundtrack.
My favorite soundtrack by far is "2001: A Space Odyssey" — partly because I love the music, but also because it's one of the very first albums I listened to when I was a kid, and it had a major influence on my interest in music. Now, that record is a strange example, though — it's orchestral music, but it wasn't written for the film.

18. I hate soundtracks that are just a bunch of popular songs.
Edited on Fri Mar-11-11 12:13 PM by bif
I think that's the easy way out. I really like original soundtracks that are scored for a movie. Way more effective. And the best ones are the OSTs that you don't even notice. A great example is "The Insider". I liked it so much I bought it--which I rarely do!
