But I'd toss him aside for British actor
David Hemmings in his prime....

7. All you need to see is the picture:

His politics were right, his personal life was above reproach, and he just sounded like an all around good guy. I'd never want to compromise anyone's marriage, but I'd love to have been able to know Paul Newman.

10. He was breathtaking...
I saw him on TV just a few days ago - he really was just a beautiful man, with, as you say, the right politics and attitude.

13. Hmm....
If I was going for strictly star power it would be Brando or Sinatra.

But, for just a nice easy going hang with a lot of good stories...

Groucho

or maybe Clint Eastwood (he's a big jazz fan)

15. Gregory Peck or James Mason
James Mason had the most beautiful voice. Paul Newman would be a good choice too but someone already picked him.

20. Did you ever see him in "Caught"?
I think that was the first thing I saw him in as a teenager. Interesting film noir movie with Barbara Bel Geddes and Robert Ryan.

I love Peter O'Toole also -- something about those intense British actors.
