The quake is one of those perspective-builders
Seems like now and again, when catastrophic events occur, we get a much-needed splash of cold water on the face. The quake is one of those things I attribute to putting my own personal problems in perspective, and realizing, that no matter how bad I think I may have it, someone else always has it far worse.

I am thankful for relative stability, a roof over my head, enough food in the fridge, and being able to walk on my own two feet. What I will be mindful of, is that I can ALWAYS be thankful for those things, regardless of another's natural calamity. But still, they can have that effect, don't they?

Peace to the people of Japan.

1. I agree
minor aches and pains and medical stuff that can be diagnosed and controlled aren't so important now. Like you, I have a roof over my head, food in the pantry and my family and an amazing group of friends.

Reach out and help each other. Hug those you love and be grateful. So grateful.

4. I am glad to count myself as one of your friends girlie!
And I am grateful as well for things like birthday parties, safe travels and meeting NEW/old friends :)

I know the world will be coming together to help Japan.

5. Gratitude
Edited on Fri Mar-11-11 08:28 PM by lizziegrace
Gratitude for friends who are family and family who can be friends keeps me going.

A little perspective never hurts anyone. I'm just sorry it has to come at such a cost to others.

7. Done and done.
Helping people is great medicine for me. I am grateful for my VERY fortunate life. Could it be better? Sure, but I'm not unaware or unappreciate of all the very good things in my life. Including knowing some really great people both on the nets and IRL...

2. I do hope for the best for the people of Japan.
I plan on visiting there, when I get the beer and travel money that is due.

There is a place, it has a river with some small foliage along the stream, and then a pasture hill that leads up to where you can watch the sunsets from. I want to try and find that hillside if it is still there. Some kind of thin forest upstream, and a small harbor town way downstream. The river is only about 10 feet wide, but runs fast.

Think I saw it in a picture somewhere.

3. Yes indeed
I was suddenly desperately grateful for our weekly pizza-and-wine night. Just the fact that it was readily available and we had light and heat...sent a prayer for the people of Japan right then.

6. Yes. My brother lives 600 miles from the epicentre of today's quake in Japan.
He emailed us right away to say he was fine. It does make you remember what is important.
