OK, I am going to pitch this new nickname for Dubya one more time... |
|
...tried the other night when no one was around and wept when I got no response since this is so sweet and sooo appropriate.
I found it in Wm. Shirer's "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich," appropriately enough. Nazi newspapers used it to describe Poland to justify their brutal invasion.
The word is "Amoklauffer."
it means, of course, "runner-amok," or "one who runs amok."
as in George W. Amoklauffer. or George "Amoklauffer" Bush.
Like it? Please say you like it. I've had a bad day.

neat and certainly appropriate! Might be a bit too much of a mouthful, though.

5. Pronounce it "Ammo Klaufer" |
|
Easier that way I guess. And yes, I know that it should be seperated "amok lauffer," I took 5 years of highschool German (2 AP).

8. Semesters were divided that way |
|
Each class took one semester, so it was referred to as a year. Never got over calling it that. LOL. 4 years, 5 classes.

14. No, it should be one word |
|
Germans invent their own compound words all of the time.
My all-time favorite German word is "scheinwerfer." A scheinwerfer is a searchlight. I had some German linguists working for me at one time, and someone gave one of them the German passage "meine Scheinwerfer ist nicht im gerate" (my searchlight doesn't work) to translate. This guy was suffering from temporary dyslexia, read Scheinwerfer as Schweinwerfer, and said "he says his pigthrower is broken."

Don't take lack of response as ignoring. There's quite often a lot of things going on that distract everyone on this board. Yesterday it was both Falujah and the start of Air America. Also, there's a lot of nicknames out there for President Cockup. I made one myself: Brainstorm-in-a-teacup. Everyone knows who I am talking about when I say it (who else) but it hasn't drawn attention particularly. After all, there's a million of them out there since our entry into the Dumber Olympics kind of lends himself to people making names about him.
