Do you feel compelled to watch your favorite movies when they come on TV.......
...... even though you own the DVDs and could watch them anytime you want to?

Jurassic Park is on TNT tonight, and the Empire Strikes Back is on Spike. Even though I own collector's editions of both movies, I'm watching both of them. Funny that.

1. Yes, but if I own the movie I just put that in instead to scratch the itch.
:)

20. I know I'm in trouble when "Tombstone" is on
Because we do the same thing - pop in the DVD to avoid the commercials and the cutting. But it's sort of an odd ritual - unless there's something on we're dying to see, if we come across "Tombstone", we have to watch the whole damned thing.

3. I generally don't watch movies a second time. Unless it is The Sound of Music or Pretty Woman.

6. LOL. I've seen My Brilliant Career a few times. Missing a few times.
Minority Report a few times. And yeah...I'll watch anything.

8. I have seen Love Actually enough to quote it....
...The same is true for my husband and Ghostbusters.
I could watch "Singing in the Rain" every day. Gene Kelley dancing just makes me smile.

4. OF COURSE!
If Signs is on, no matter at what point, the rule is, it is on. Then there's also the Serenity Rule. The Kill Bill Rule. And the Love Actually rule. But there's also a "never watch Eurotrip on TV no matter what you do. It just isn't the same" rule.

9. Yeah, certain movies should not be watched edited. Eurotrip is one of them.....

...... as is GoodFellas, which just sounds silly with all the expletives edited out.

21. Yeah, Goodfellas even edits out whole scenes.
It's my all-time favorite movie and I own it on DVD, but I still can't resist when I run into it on TV. Then when they get to that Joe Pesce scene, which they always edit out, I yell at the TV and change the station. Even though I know they've edited it out and it pisses me off, I'll still watch it anyway up to that point.

10. I even watch my non-favorites
I tend to have favorite 'scenes' in many movies, so I'll watch something just to see that one scene.

11. Yes, and it's just weird because I own the DVD's. I have cable
so I'm able to watch some of my favorites when I want unedited but when I see them on HOB or Showtime, I can't resist just leaving them on the tube. I don't own GoodFellas which is one of my very favorites. I look for it when I go to a place where it might be but I haven't been able to find it.

13. with commercials, bowlderizing and time compression? No thanks.
But yes, when I had cable I would sometimes watch unedited (but still badly time-compressed except for TCM) movies that I had sitting on the shelf.

14. when Spike plays Star Wars
Edited on Mon Mar-14-11 09:19 AM by stuntcat
at least once a month I catch a weekend of Star Wars on Spike. I could already recite the movies, now I'm just sickening

Other than Spike's Star Wars marathons and sometimes Turner classic movies I don't watch tv except for news and natural disasters.
