So, all these years of my life I've heard how wondrous and THING this person is, and this evening one Robert OSWALD or whatever his AMC name is, gave his 2 minutes spiel about the brilliance of this person, how THIS movie was the most awaited thing (Joan of Arc) when her scandal broke.

So I'm looking at this thing, this movie, this piece of work. There she is, somebody not looking anything like a medieveal waif. Looking like a hardened, very old person, whatever, except for the exceptionally smooth complexion.

And all the Jose FERRER and hangers-on were really old crustaceans. Am looking up Jose on Wiki as we speak.

On Edit: Oh, Wiki says Jose had 5 kids with wifey Rosemary, aunt of George. O-kay!1

1. She was too old to play Joan of Arc for sure, but
if you want to see the Joan of Arc story done right, find the 1928 silent film (yes, silent film) The Passion of Joan of Arc. It is based on the transcripts of her trial, and even though it is mostly shot in close-up, it is riveting. The actress, Maria Falconetti, was a French stage actress who never made another movie and died in obscurity in the 1940s.

Normally, I dislike silent films because the acting is overdone, but this one is understated and timeless. (Do NOT expect an action flick, though. No battle scenes.)

Rumor has it that Sinead O'Connor's video for "Nothing Compares to You" was based on the "look" of this film.

2. Thank you, THANK you for the thoughtful reply. It would have been so easy
to flame. I blush at my frequent ignorance.

But just to prove that there is no perfect beauty without flaw, the word is she had her teeth fixed.

4. 'Anastasia': Possibly the worst film to result in an Oscar for best actress;

she wasn't terrible in it.. but not very good, either. And yes, she was too old in this film as well.
