Good Lord...I am so freakin' depressed these days.

I'm sure others are feeling the same way. How do you cope??

1. I am surrounded by good friends and family.
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 10:49 AM by bigwillq
A good partner. In good health, as far as I know. I really only worry about the things I can control. And I know that I can have it much worse. Life is actually very, very good for me. It's something I don't take for granted, and I just live my life to the fullest because tomorrow is not guaranteed. :hi:

2. I like your attitude...I am very lucky, too.
My family is healthy, I have a job that I love, we have a roof over our heads and food to eat.

I guess I always try to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders...and it never works. You would think I would learn after a while that I can't handle it.

Thanks for your post!

19. that's the answer!

:hi: Not worrying or panicking about things one has no control over is the secret, and then doing something about problems we can control, as well as helping others.

5. Do you realize I was thinking that very same thing today?
Is it not news if it's "good", or does the world just simply suck THAT much?

Between the constant doom-o-rama on this site (warranted thanks to right wing corporate plundering and nobody doing a single thing about it) and the 24/7 fear-mongering on M$Greedia, it's a wonder I don't jump.

6. Yes, I adopted a cat in need of a home...
... very nice to have him around. He'd been dumped off at the humane society with a broken jaw back in January. They nursed him back to health, and we stopped in and met him Sunday then took him home. He's already a great buddy and very affectionate. He'll have a great life with us and be well taken care of. I made sure to post on the shelter's Facebook page (they have a photo of each pet) that we adopted him and love him, and many of the people on that site liked it and gave some happy feedback.

A little bit of good news; something positive to share.

7. I almost have my house organized & cleaned out plus the local YWCA..
received a large donation of clothing and books from me.

I was going to give the books to the library but I use to help organize our local library donations and I knew most of them would not be of any use for them. So when I contacted the YWCA about the clothes I asked if they would be interested in the books - most were novels. They definately were! Our local YWCA has women housing and they had a small rec room with a library so the books would be a welcome addition for the women who live there could enjoy.

I still have so many fricking books in my house I might do another sort and see if I can donate even more books for their residents to enjoy.

8. I think being informed is tougher
Ignorance really is bliss, and DUers are anything but ignorant and uninformed. Very depression-inducing, but still, I don't wish I was as clueless as some folks. :P

I dunno, I guess it helps to sort out what's worth worrying about from what isn't. I can weep for the Japanese, but aside from giving to relief efforts, there's not a lot I can do about the situation. Sucks, but that's the way it is. I can worry about the drifting radiation, but there's not a lot I can do about that either.

I stay informed, but I keep my perspective by listening to my 7 YO talk about cars and what he did at recess, being grateful for above-freezing temps (finally), and enjoying my family and friends.

10. I know how you feel.
I look around at my state and it's imploding, the rest of the country is not any better, then there's Japan....at the end of every day I go home and hug my man and my animals. Gives me a little bit of comfort.
