"Letting the cat out of the bag" Granny's engagement party. |
|
My grandmother was married around 1910. Back then people entertained themselves. No radio or TV.
At my grandmother's engagement party a silken bag was brought in. When it was opened a small kitten came out. Around it's neck was a pink ribbon with a tag that read "The cat's out of the bag. Mildred is engaged to be married to Marvin." Sweet.

2. No. Granny was a Baptist. Grandpa was 'questionable'. |

4. I don't think grandpa was particularly religious. |
|
Although he was a deacon in the church, I think that was mainly for 'show'. Business and social purposes.
