So, I had a job interview the other day |
|
And the guy didn't offer me enough money. I told him I'd talk about it with my Fiancee. I emailed him back Tuesday asking for more. I haven't heard back (It's thursday here) am I fucked? Any advice? I suck at this sort of thing.

I don't know how these things work either, esp. in a foreign country.
Did you make your salary requirements/wishes clear?
I guess I'd give him a few more days before moving on...
Good luck!

2. Personally I won't hire someone who requests an outsider's opinion. |
|
I need someone who is a go getter. If you need to ask your fiance's permission, it's not going to look good. Just say you need time to think about their offer.
Just smoke them out.
The best job I ever got, I asked for top pay. Of course they were reticent.
But I had in my hand
#1) an airplane ticket out of there (was to another country). #2) a very good personal relationship with their plant manager #3) inside knowledge that they were in hot water with that manager #4) inside knowledge plant manager was on vacation so they were screwed!
And remember they work us like mules anyway. So kick their ass before you get started. They will be doing the kicking thereafter.

3. I agree. I'd rather hear you'd like to think about it than... |
|
you saying you had to check with someone else. There's something "off" about that IMO.

I don't think there's anything 'off' about saying that you want to discuss the offer with your significant other. Keep in mind that HEyHEY is in China too, so maybe something like that is more prevalent in their culture.

5. Well, he did laugh and make the "whip" sound..... |
|
I kid. I actually would think it'd be a bonus here cause if there's one thing Chinese management hates it's people who think for themselves. That said, I only said it cause it popped into my head and I needed an out cause I SUCK at negotiating wages and was put on the spot so I knew I'd get bent over if I didn't get out.

6. I called him yesterday |
|
He said he hadn't seen my email and would look for it and reply. I'm not letting up, if he thinks that's too much, fine. Just tell me, I'll come down. But, if he doesn't reply I'm not going to accept it... at least have the guts to talk to me.
