1. "House"

However, I'm a newcomer to the show...I've been catching up with the reruns on USA. I avoided the show for a long time because a person on one of the forums I'm on had a pic of Hugh Laurie as an avatar, and s/he was VERY hurtful to many of my friends. That was a big (unfairly, to the talented cast and crew) turn-off for me. That person is now gone from my online life, so I gave the show a go, and now I'm addicted.

I would probably like Dexter, because I loved Michael C. Hall in "Six Feet Under." However, I tend to prefer the medical/crime puzzle genre. My favorite shows are NCIS, L&O SVU and Criminal Intent, the original CSI when Grissom was on, and "House." Beyond that, I don't want to commit myself to another show, particularly to one that has been in production for several years...that I did not or could not watch. The only shows we ever made an effort to catch up with were "The Sopranos" and recently "NCIS." My husband bought me the box set of NCIS DVDs for Christmas. It may be dumb, but for some reason that show tickles my funny bone.

edit: We only got Showtime for the first time last summer, so shows like "Dexter" and "Weeds" are new to us...and in a few months we'll have to decide if we'll keep Showtime (probably not since we have a Roku).

3. House is the same plot every show, Dexter is the same story arc every season.
Which is not to say I don't like both shows -- I do -- but they're not among my all-time favorites.

4. Yeah but the House over/under on blood puking is awesome.
Fifteen minutes over or under, within the first few seconds of the show.

It's way more predictable than you'd think.

7. Dexter.
It's grosser than shows I generally like, but it is so well-written, with great characters, that it sucked me in from the beginning. It's one of my favorite shows.

8. Dexter! I can't believe I have to wait until September for the new
shows to begin. I wonder what in the Hell the writers will do to try to top the last two seasons.
