1. I used to know people who fostered tiger babies.

So I got to spend a lot of time with them. They were the most wonderful, sweet, playful things in the world but you had to be very careful not to trigger that prey instinct because if you turned your back they WOULD bite you in the ass! Just playing, but tiger playing! These guys are gorgeous.

To be cuddled by such huge animals, animals who could take your face off with one chomp, must be a mystical experience. (I"m serious, really.) The breath must be pretty overwhelming, too.

13. Very sweet -- on the surface.

But people should never, ever forget that, as friendly as these cats are, they are of course extremely powerful -- capable of taking down prey much larger than they are. Even a casual swipe with one of those massive paws can be deadly, and of course the cats don't understand that. Even my ordinary housecats have taken some pretty good swipes at me over the years, with enough strength behind them to make me know what would have happened if my cats were that big. This man must be careful not to ever forget just what he is dealing with here.
