What happened to the donut shops? We have three outlets
of a national chain within 3 miles of my house. When I was a kid, donut shops had a choice of 10 to 20 different varieties. Now, more than half the shelf space is taken up with muffins and bread sticks and pseudo-bagels, etc. I haven't seen a lemon filled donut in years!

1. Come to West Texas
We got a local chain that ran the Krispy Kreme franchise out of town:

Don't let the "Gourmet Coffee" tag fool you. These are true donut shops that close in the middle of the day and in the mornings, are packed with gossiping old men and lined with cars for the drive-thru.

3. Dunkin donuts - and I've found that two of the shops are just
distribution points. They actually run out of donuts at the end of the day!

Yeah, you all really need some better donut shops. Maybe you should open one up! :)

Looks like you'll have to drive over to Liverpool, NY and go to Cicero's for a decent lemon filled:
