Spending Spring Break in Prague
Any suggestions of out of the norm things to see, or do?

What's on the list?

I have a full 7 days, so plenty of time...

1. Consider me being jealous
:D :hi:

You should try to get outside of Prague to the Castle Karlstejn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl%C5%A1tejn

And definitely try the Bohemian food and beer :D

Is your whole family going?

3. Oh so cool
you all will have a blast.

Regarding the food. Don't forget to eat the Knedliki (dumplings) with the pork. They are the best (says the woman who has Bohemian roots) :D

5. Need a place to stay? This place is awesome:
http://www.umedvidku.cz/

It's a pension, which is sort of like a B&B but without all the lace and quaintness. It's got big, old rooms with gigantic rafters. Also, the onsite brewery makes the most potent beer in all of Prague.

As far as stuff to see, you'll want to check out Old Town Square, and then just kinda go in concentric circles around it. There's so many cool little alleyways, great, off-the-beaten-path pubs, etc.

I like O'Che's, the Irish-Cuban bar, just for sheer weirdness.

Take a tour around the Jewish Quarter, which is very interesting -- if incredibly depressing, especially if you're Jewish -- and includes I believe the oldest synagogue in Europe.

Take a walk on any of the cities many bridges. Let your imagination go as you listen to the Vlatava underneath your feet.*

*written by son, a symphony conductor/horn-viola-bass guitarist musician, who is preparing the Moldau(Vlatava)for a May concert with our local symphony. Prague is one of the major music centers in Europe. The Vlatava River cuts Prague in half.
