1. Maggie the Cat in 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' -it's one of Paul Newman's good ones too |
|
But.. Virginia Woolf is a very, very close second..

16. I had forgotten that. I always associate it with a similar case my dad |
|
talked about. When he was growing up in a small town in PA, basically the same story played itself out and was a huge deal at the time in the area.
Think I'll check out the Dreiser book. Thanks for the reminder!

Happened at Loon Lake in New York. I once saw an Unsolved Mysteries episode about it, hosted by Robert Stack.
I called him Robert Starch, since I figured that starch in his undies was what was holding him up at that age.

5. "Giant" with Rock Hudson and James Dean (1956). |
|
I loved her in all of her movies, though. There was no one who could compare to her.

I have seen it on television several times. I believe that was the beginning of her friendship with Rock Hudson.
It's quite an epic, and I usually don't like that kind of movie. Breathtaking.

"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "WAOVW" are excellent as well.
I even like parts of Cleopatra.

18. Virginia Woolf proved her range and power - and brought her a lot of |
|
critical acclaim. Many critics dismissed her as just a pretty face before that role, and she certainly proved them wrong.
She was a great actor and a great person.

I loved her in this film. Who can forget those lavender leather pants and the snug chartreuse sweater?? Also, the beautiful score with the best love song ever, "The Shadow of Your Smile", and the stunning cinematography of the Big Sur.
Cleopatra is another favorite.

I do love "Cat", and "Who's Afraid..." though, just not with the same fondness!
