My words will not adequately describe this. Suffice to say that Mrs. OBD is not pleased.

1. I was quite excited
thinking that they'd serve pie and damn fine coffee, hoping that maybe my waitress might carry around a log or something.

This is disappointing.

2. I initially had the same thought.
I will confess that the symbolism was, initially, lost on me.

3. I saw the name, thought David Lynch and how did they get
permission for that sort of awesomeness-until I saw the site.

Why? It's overdone.

4. If they were going to put in a Hooters wannabe, I wish they'd have opened a "Heart Attack Grill"
http://www.heartattackgrill.com/Heart_Attack_Grill_Diet_Center/Nightline.html

Waitresses in naughty nurse outfits, and the potatoes are deep-fried in lard. Gotta love it!

5. I've heard of that place.
I'd be curious about it enough to enter but I'd probably get sick just watching everyone eat.

I live in a smallish town (30,000) but there's a decent sized university and an air force base in the town. They'd probably be successful around here.

20. With Agent Cooper and Audrey and the Log Lady?
I would drink coffee there every single day.

This is so disappointing.

8. Anybody ever been to the actual Mar T Diner?
I lived really close to Snoqualmie Falls and North Bend, Washington where Twin Peaks was filmed. Man, after it got to Japan you couldn't MOVE without running into a Japanese tour group. And, at least when I used to go, the Mar T (I've forgotten, did they call it something else in the show?) did have a phenomenal cherry pie. It got sold, though, so I have no idea if it's any good now.

Love North Bend. It's quintessential PNW mysterious. I can see what Lynch saw in it.

THIS bullshit? Not so much.

10. We have one nearby (Twin Peaks)
A friend and I have had lunch there a couple of times. IMO, it's a slightly upscale version of Hooters. Cute outfits on the waitstaff, but overpriced, mediocre food. If I don't go again, it won't really bother me.

There should be a law requiring any company opening a new breastaurant to also open a meatzzaria in the same neighborhood.

15. So basically it's a Hooters rip-off
I first thought it was something that tied into the TV show Twin Peaks but after seeing the scantily dressed women I guess I got the wrong Twin Peaks.

16. or waitresses tying cherry stems with their tongues?
(and those great 60s jazzy- lounge sounds?) Sorry, I just had to go there.

Actually Lynch was a huge diner freak who ate the same thing every day, for years. (milkshake, burger and fries) - not sure if he still does- but that's what I read. A very brilliant, but strange man.

Did you ever see "On the Air?" (his bizarre and somewhat more tame, short-lived ABC series?) :D

17. This sort of pandering demeans us all.
Places like that, and Hooters, make me *not* want to go there. And is isn't that I don't like seeing pretty women in short shorts. I pretty much love that. It just smacks of desperation, and I feel it demeans me, as a man, and them, as corporate-sponsored sex objects.

Although I'm totally going to one of those topless car washes someday.

18. Hey, you could be getting Fat Ho Burgers.
Seriesly.

http://www.kwtx.com/ourtown/headlines/Business_Was_Booming_Wednesday_Fat_Ho_Burgers__118543624.html

Business was so good Wednesday at Waco’s Fat Ho Burgers that the cash-only business first ran out of cash and then used up its supply of beef.

Lunch-hour diners waited in line for 30 minutes or longer Wednesday and for most the attraction was the new restaurant’s provocative name....

The restaurant on South 11th Street near Interstate 35 started serving burgers on Tuesday, but it got plenty of press ahead of the opening thanks to its name, which owner Lakita Evans, 23, said was inspired by the movie “Phat Girlz.”...

The Fat Ho menu includes such choices as a “Supa Fly Ho,” which is a single-patty burger, and a “Supa Dupa Fly Ho,” which is a double.

21. Ocean City MD...
Big Peckers Restaurant.

Big Peckers Ocean City, Venue Description

Big Peckers - Yes, the name is exactly what you think! It’s a big old chicken BBQ joint with plenty of big and beefy boys roaming around drunk. So it’s a double meaning! Wow! While maybe cocks and roosters aren’t your thing, the many ladies who flock out for hen’s nights. The Big Pecker is always a pretty good time, if you maintain your tongue firmly planted in your cheek while visiting. Karaoke, live bands, and DJs are at your disposal on different nights of the week. Be sure to by one of the bar’s popular t-shirts, whether for yourself or your favorite teenage relative
