Our BEST APRIL FOOLS DAY EVER, though, was our freshman year in college. (Oh, dear lord, a decade ago.)

There was this annoying guy who spent all his time in the smoking lounge, watching General Hospital and talking and smoking (you could hear him packing his cigarettes at 2 am). He didn't even live on the floor. He would call me Dudette, and Vince Dude, and he'd put his hand on my knee and stuff. He was annoying.

Anyway, April Fools 1994, we decided to shut him up. I came in to the lounge, looking distraught. I told him I was pregnant. And I did the math -- it wasn't Vince's. (I made up a story about having a New Year's Eve one night stand). He got so worried, and even offered to drive me anywhere to take care of things if I wanted to go that route.

In the middle of the sob story, a good friend of ours whose room was right next to the lounge came through. He saw me damn near crying and immediately thought something was wrong. I told him I'd see him in a second, and then left Annoying Smoker Guy alone to go tell my friend it was all a hoax.

A bit later, Vince came through the lounge and just said, "Hi Steve. April fools." Steve (aka Annoying Smoker Guy) paused a minute and then shouted: "Duuuude! That's NOT FUNNY!"

Kept us laughing for awhile, anyway.
