8. It is not which you cannot prove so stop saying that!
Frisco is an exurb of Dallas, where MLS' FC Dallas plays and disgraced NOLA ex-mayor Ray Nagin lives in self-imposed exile. :-)

16. Oh FFS
Frisco is a village on Hatteras Island.

The landing strip there is where Billy Mitchell took off to prove that airplanes could sink battleships which altered the course of history forever.

13. I sooooo miss that man!
Here's a good Herb Caen anecdote from the 80s:

Some out-of-towner dude flew into Oakland and checked into his hotel near the Oakland airport. He asked the concierge how to get around the city, and she gave him a map. "What's this?" he demanded. "I want to explore Oakland, and you gave me a map of San Francisco."

The concierge just looked blankly at him and replied: "You asked for a map of The City, didn't you?"

:toast:

19. And remember how he used to quote Gertrude Stein in regard to Sacramento?
(Well, Gertrude had been talking about her childhood house, not Sacto) ... "There is no there, there."

10. So many "auslanders" in Frisco these days it doesn't
matter what you call it. BTW "auslanders" is what Herb Caen used to call them, although being from Sacramento he probably wouldn't like people calling it Frisco. But I'm from Oakland, I don't care what you call that city.

12. He also used to call them "Elsewhereans"
see, I know my SF/Bay Area stuff. I would never call it "Frisco" if not for the copycat factor.
