What posters did you have on your wall as a teen? I had a poster that said: "if you don't know where
you're going you'll probably end up somewhere else!". I thought it was hilarious as a tween. As a teenager I was too shy put up posters of movie stars or whatever.

I always go way overboard obsessing about music people. It didn't have much to do with lusting after them, I mean most of the girls at my school had Duran Duran posters about that time, but it wasn't crushes I had, they're still my favorites :)

I had the opportunity to meet her once at a charity function that I helped set up back in the late '80s, but I totally chickened out. Figured it would be like staring straight into the sun, you know? My friends went, though, and reported that she was very nice and communicative with all of them.

Edited on Sun Mar-27-11 09:52 AM by rbnyc
...and I wrote quotes from my favorite poets and bands in black marker.

I remember some:

"How wonderful is death, death and his brother sleep" - Percy Bysshe Shelley

"They all claim that they have the answer.
When they don't even know the question.
They're just a bunch of liars.
They just want your money.
They just want your consciousness.
All religions suck.
All religions make me wanna throw up!" - Dead Kennedys

"The living that is owed to me I'm never going to get,
They've buggered this old world up, up to their necks in dept.
They'd give you a lobotomy for something you ain't done,
They'll make you an epitome of everything that's wrong." - Crass

"A fool sees not the same tree that a wise man sees.
He whose face gives no light, shall never become a star." - William Blake

Also a Woodstock poster and a poster that said "Goodbye California" that was a drawing of California breaking off the rest of the country to fall into the ocean (an often made comment at the time); inside California were the names of a lot of the well-known people who lived in the state. In my younger teen years, I also put up pictures that were pages I tore out of 16 magazine; the one I particularly remember was Jim Morrison (a major crush, and I loved the Doors music).
