2. I was coming home from a business trip one day
We were stacked up over Chicago. It was @10AM and the thermals were arising.
The lady opposite me was apparently a first time flier. (BTW I hate flying).
She was getting concerned about whether we'd run out of fuel etc .....
I offered that I hoped we didn't scrape a skyscraper and BANG! right then we hit turbulence. I thought she was going to die or something.

3. I used to fly as a passenger a lot -- both commercially and in the Army...

...which was mostly open-door helicopters, which I LOVED.

When my ex-wife and I flew over from Germany (a military-chartered commercial
flight, it was probably the worst turbulence that I've ever experienced in my life.
It still didn't faze me, but my ex was just white-faced white-knuckled terrified.
.
Later, she was furious with me because not only could I eat MY meals during all
that buffeting about (that's NOT pronounced buff-AY-ing), I could also scarf down
all of HER meals.
.
It's true. In the Army, you eat and sleep whenever you can as you just don't know
WHEN your next opportunity is going to be.
