1. Hooks! Seven Nation Army has a good hook!

I don't really ever feel like putting that album on (nor do I own it :)), but I would be the last to deny that one or two of the songs are catchy. Sure it's derivative and uninspired, but like their fellow 70s thief the Strokes, some of it is catchy and enjoyable.

2. I think the style of recording, combined with the rawness of their style
(especially with Meg's god-awful drumming), might have something to do with it. They don't come across as "prepackaged," which makes them a breath of fresh air.

3. No bass?
Garage-y pop. I don't know, but I agree that they have some good stuff.

Their videos are good, too.

8. Thats it! This band reminds me of the Violent Femmes
Especially "White Blood Cells"

Not so much in style (although "I Think I Smell a Rat" could easily have Gordon Gano on vocals) but in just raw, off the street corner and still haven't showered rawness.

Tell me I'm not smoking pine needles....

10. not alot of people are playing slides on electrics these days...
it gives them a 'unique' sound to their audience anyway, which is just a bunch of people that dont listen to good music lol.

i personally think they kinda suck as a band, but they have a decent song (seven nation army) and whatnot, so i guess maybe its a bit too early to judge em, but yea, nothing original, nothing exciting.

15. Oooo that's good stuff
Always puts a smile on my face...and I like the White Stripes too.

I like the rawness of their sound. So much of what you hear on the radio is so overproduce that the stripped down sound of the WS is refreshing. Theys gots da mad hooks too.
