Ever have "White Soda?"
Now before anyone gets all wound up, there's a reason it's called that, that has nothing to do with race.

When I was a kid, a local soda bottler named "Springtime" was pretty popular, mostly because it was cheaper than the big brand names.

(Here's an example of the bottle)
http://cgi.ebay.com/SPRINGTIME-SODA-POP-BOTTLE-/200589931207

They had grape, lime, orange, several others.

And their version of lemon-lime was called "white soda."

To this day, my family never mentions 7-Up, Sierra Myst, etc.
We call it no matter the brand, "white soda."

And we buy it mostly for when someone is feeling sick.
(Like the flu.)

1. Graf's used to sell it
I remember drinking white soda. I grew up in Milwaukee but we never called other citrus sodas white soda. My memory isn't too good but I don't think it had the yellowish tint of a citrus soda.

2. This is why I love the Lounge.
You can always find somebody who remembers the same things that you do.

Springtime called it then, (we still do,) "50/50."

White soda was just about the same as "7-Up."

4. "red pop" but never heard of "white soda". And when we were sick?
.
.
.
Ginger ale -- Canada Dry -- and buttered toast. Come to think
of it... that combination was so commonly prescribed by Moms
that it could have probably been called "Protestant pennicillin".
.
.
At my first pro baseball game (Detroit Tigers with Al Kaline),
I was introduced to Vernor's ginger ale -- and threw it out
after the first sip.
.
.
Now, it's in my top 3 sodas -- and a nice midpoint in between
what for me are the two unpleasant extremes of Canada Dry
and authentic Jamaican ginger beer.
