Tomorrow I will be going to the Houston Zoo with some of the nursing home people.
They are so looking forward to this outing.

Once a month is a major field trip somewheres.

I will be responsible for one person.

Tomorrow should be fun.

3. A trip to the zoo will be good for them.
Most will be in wheelchairs.

Then we will stop for lunch somewhere.

I have two friends who are also going, I drafted them.

Everyperson needs a personal caregiver to go.

The weather will be nice tomorrow.

4. I did go in January, the place was almost empty.
The animals seem to like the cooler weather.

5. I bet.
We usually go in June and sometimes the smell can be overpowering in certain areas. I couldn't go into the monkey area last time- gag factor was high that day.

6. That and the humid weather is why I go in fall and winter.
The monkey area is smelly.

It was about 50 in January, just right.

11. no worries, the coral snake @ the Houston reptile house
is (or was) made of rubber.

From Texas Monthly's Bum Steer Awards for 1985:

SO THAT’S WHY THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO TOUCH THE ANIMALS
After a visitor questioned why the coral snake in the Houston zoo had not moved for nine months, zoo officials confessed that the snake was made of rubber.

16. I can hardly believe it's been 26 years
since the rubber snake...

but faithful readers of Leon Hale never forget!

http://blogs.chron.com/leonhale/2011/03/red_on_yellow_kill_a_fellow.html

check the comments from Bob Windish and from Eli...

(Personally I'm glad to see old Leon is still kicking. Just checked and I see that old Paul Berlin is also still alive and kicking. Egads, I can't believe these two outlived Marvin Zindler!)
