Mini mid-life crisis time.
My oldest kiddo just turned 13. I'm the parent of a teenager. I know this isn't remarkable to most of you, but DAMN! I have to check myself-- doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I was a teenager. What happened?!

:o

Too bad I can't afford a sports car or a pool boy.

Oh, and

11. Is that the age where they stop thinking that everything you say is dumb,
wrong, or embarrassing?

Just looking for a timeline, here...

20. Pretty close, I still get some eye rolls, but for the most part she listens and more
importantly asks for advice now. As far as boys go, that NEVER happens, IMO.

3. You went totally apeshit and it turned out okay.
Don't know your kid but in a teen totally apeshit is not outside the norm. It's like having a toddler again only sex, drugs and cars can be involved. Breathe. And remember teenagers invented the term MILF.

I'm really hoping he isn't the male reincarnation of teenage-me. I'm a lot more strict than my parents were, so we'll see how that works...

4. I have been thinking about you recently.
I know you don't know me. I used to spend my time in the lounge when I first joined DU. But then I took a break from DU. But, who can stay away? Anyway, I have mostly just lurked for the past few years. I always enjoyed reading your posts. Recently I have started posting again and have thought about you. I too have a thing for boots. :)

I had my first child last year. I was 37. I am old enough to be my son's grandmother. I finally feel like a real adult.

I hope to see you around more often. Congrats on being a parent of a teen! I remember you had some tough times.

12. So sweet!
I haven't purchased new boots in a few years. I must be due!

My guy will be 17 when I turn 37! There are definitely distinct advantages and disadvantages to having a kiddo at any given age, but no matter what age you are, it makes you feel old to see them growing up. I'm not really sad about getting older, myself, but it's definitely bittersweet to see your babies change so quickly.

28. Glad you're hangin' in,
but I wish the report was: "Radiating with joy. Found unicorns on my lawn the other day. And I've started periodically sweating tiny droplets of liquid gold."
Guess we all have to settle.
I'm fine. Questioning the wisdom of remaining in a job that's even more intense than I am. Sometimes I think I'd be much better off if I could tolerate a little boredom. I miss goofing around on DU with all you fine peeps! :(

17. Yes!
I think when his voice changes I'm going to freak out. :D Too weird. I don't feel old enough to have a teenager. I sure hope he behaves better than I did.

I've been well! Busy working. My job keeps me running in a million directions, so my days and weeks just fly by.

How are you? :)

I think it's time CMW had "the talk" with him. (I personally still consider TWAEBCNG just a baby.) :yoiks:

were pretty hard to fathom initially, so I totally understand.

I didn't have mine til I was 37, though. So I'm even older and less hip, since the fact that I played drums in a punk band for years earns me no points, in fact, quite the opposite!

Great to see you here- miss your wit on these pages! :hi:
