Is Smirnoff Ice like Bacardi Silver?

that's what I heard, and since me and some of my friends might getting someone to get us stuff at the liquor store soon I might want to try it out.

1. Smirnoff Ice is a little sweeter.

Whenever I go to the bar, I order it. It's good shit. Like an alcoholic Sprite. Careful tho, it's almost as sweet as schnapps, so it can get a little addictive.

2. They're both advertising gimmicks.

They're "malt beverages," and can be advertised on TV, unlike their hard liquor cousins. When you see Smirnoff or Bacardi, you subconsciously associate them with their main products, vodka and rum, respectively. It's the same reason Marlboro and Camel have clothing lines--they allow them to conduct brand advertising without contravening tobacco advertising laws (especially in Europe).

3. I heard the whole idea was alcopops...

Trying to get younger customers....make the drinks taste like candy. Kind of like how tobacco companies put sugar in cigs to get kids hooked.
