speaking of animal rescues |
|
while I was talking to our people about buddy's brother we were shitting and giggling about some stuff they see and animals they get.
They have had an ocelot, several pythons,a caymon, tarantula's,and he said the weirdest thing ever brought to them was an ostrich. They get weird shit at the rescue. They have two cows there now and have NO IDEA what they are supposed to do with them. How do you find no slaughter homes for cows :)
I ask you..I implore you..I BEG you,SUPPORT your local no kill rescues please. My Buddy Guy,Katie,Bearboy..the cats Milkshake and Doc..all came from our no kill rescue.
The rescues don't get mana from heaven..they need food for the animals they are caring for,as well as money for the medical care they give.
GIVE TO YOUR LOCAL NO KILL SHELTER!!!

3. I dont have a big heart |

Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 11:29 AM by backwoodsbob
my buddies at the shelter have a big heart and they deserve all the love they can get.
I do my little bit and try to raise awareness..the people at the rescues deserve every clap and handshake they get and then some
Money is easy..I can reach in and hand a twenty or a hundred..whatever.The people at the rescue are heroes.I donate one day a week..there are people there 7 days a week doing the dirty work..cleaning..feeding..taking care of the sick and injured..the abused.Taking care of the animals that fight them every step of the way as well as the ones who are so broken it breaks your heart.
It's easy to be me stepping in once or twice a week and claiming I made a difference..adopting the cherrypicked animals I want. It's HARD being the one who cleans up after everyone leaves
I tip my hat to the people in the trenches..they are my heroes

4. My niece has managed to save over 200 feral cats/kittens. |
|
She started a spay/neuter/release program with no funding except for small donations from friends and family, and has released the ferals into safe areas, such as farms(only with permission of the owners), nursed the sick ones back to health, and placed innumerable kittens.
Unfortunately, she was being taken advantage of people who just started dumping their cats on her. Even one of the local shelters used and abused her, so she had to stop. She ended up with approximately 20 cats that couldn't be placed or released. Needless to say, she has her hands full now. The money I used to give to the local shelter now goes to her.
I know there are many, many good local and national shelters, and they deserve all the help we can give them, but I will not give a dime to this one, and, in fact, am in the process of reporting them to the national organization with which they are affiliated. They really screwed up when they mistreated her. It's cost them dearly in loss of donations. So sad.
