1. Picking a fight with Dave would be very dumb.

This arrogant White House isn't even that stupid.

3. I agree completely!
The man doesn't care what people say about him ... he just uses it as fuel for the fire!! One of the many reasons I love Dave!!

28. I wish I were as thick-skinned as he seems to be.
I saw him handle Madonna when she was being a bitch on his show...she had her ass handed to her.

2. Liked the part where she admitted
we would probably be seeing this later on Letterman. And when she offered to do a stupid human trick.

6. Running fight btween Dave and CNN
this week about a tape he aired of a very tired little boy standing behind * at a rally. CNN tried to say the tape was doctored and Dave wasn't having any of it.

CNN finally rolled over today. :7

14. I'm sure the highlights
will be up at TLS website. This would be too good for Dave not to provide endless web replay for anyone who missed it.

She had to eat crow on behalf of CNN knowing that CNN management could really give a rat's ass.

17. A timeline as best as I can reconstruct it
Monday--Letterman shows a hilarious clip of a 13 yr old kid bored out of his mind (as virtual any kid would be by any political speech) while the President gives a speech right in front of him.

Tues AM--CNN thinks the bit is so funny (and it is) that the run it on their morning show. After a commercial break the CNN anchor says oh, btw, the White House just called to say that the clip was a fake, the Letterman show just edited the kid in the clip. A little later CNN "corrects" themselves saying that the kid was there just not directly behind the President.

Tues PM--Letterman is outraged. Says the clip isn't a fake (it isn't). Starts telling Paul that he going to end up found in the trunk of a Buick (basically saying that the White House is going to 'whack' him--though it is still mostly humor it's clear Letterman is angry with the White House.

Wed--CNN says that they were in error, the White House really didn't contact them saying the clip was fake (though they still haven't said just exactly how this misattribution came about)

Wed night--Letterman shows the clip again. Is confused by the whole CNN denial, Letterman in fact says that he has a good source inside CNN who says the White House did call, but at the same time he backs off of his attacks on the White House a bit.

Thurs AM--Talking head lady on CNN gives a formal apology to Dave, says the clip is real, says the White House really didn't call (but still doesn't say how it came about that they said the White House did call) CNN lady even says she'll come on and do a stupid human trick.

Thurs PM--Letterman run the kid clip, the CNN clip, revels in the fact that this is the 1st time in 25 years that someone has apologized to him, repeats the story that he has it from a very good source the White House did call CNN, and says things are coming together a little too "tidy"

Tomorrow night, the kid will be on the show (his father is the Repub chairman for Orange County, FL--Orlando).

I'm pretty sure the clip of the kid can be found all over the internet by this point, but I have looked it up

19. Obviously WH did call. Really frightening, that Roveco is so obssessed
with propaganda to even pursue something like this. Equally if not more frightening that a supposedly "reputable" news org like CNN is so shamelessly willing to cover for the WH.

25. But I thought they had such a great sense of HUMOR
Wasn't it just a few days ago that we were being told to get over our prissy lack of humor over AWOL's hilarious "what happened to the WMD" jokes? But this--a bored kid at a speech--now that's too serious to let slip by.

26. This started out as a harmless amusing vid clip story on Letterman.
But there is more to it. It is something much more serious I think, an actual glimpse at the sordid manipulation of major news orgs by Roveco. CNNgate or Yawngate. I think the issues are significant and CNN owes America an explanation of what is going on here.

WH (Rove/McLellan) should be questioned and made to confirm or deny whether they called CNN on this!
