As a satanist, I was VERY VERY offended by Mel Gibson's movie "The Passion". In the Passion, Satan was portrayed as an androgynous, evil female who wanted to hold Jesus back from completing his mission. I happen to believe Mel is anti-satanic and this film should be boycotted by all satanists.
Sorry you guys, I got this idea from Leno and I have to see your reaction.

Not at the the treatment of Mel and really not at the treatment of the movie. Yes, I love it and it holds a special place in my heart, but it's still just a movie. What made me mad is at the end when Stan say "If you wanna be a Christian, that's cool. But you should focus more on Christ's teachings over torture and death". Well, Christ's death and resurrection is the cornerstone of my faith, NOT His teachings. Not that his teachings are bad, because they're not. The world would be better if everyone followed them. But frankly, I don't need 2 non-christians telling me how to practice my faith, thank you.

7. Then step away from the television. |

If you think the crucifixion mythology is more important than CHRIST'S TEACHINGS then you are missing the point rather egregiously, IMNSHCO.

I believe that Jesus's death on the cross paid the ultimate price for man's sins. By dying on the cross and rising again on the third day, jesus paved the way for us to have eternal salvation. THAT is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. yes, Jesus had great teachings, but he came to earth to die. And seriously, just about every religion teaches love for all and peace and all that stuff(seriously, Buddha was teaching the same stuff 500 years before). Jesus's death and resurrection is what sets Christianity apart.
This is simply what I believe. I'm not gonna force my beliefs on you.

I believe that Jesus' death on the cross was absolutely unnecessary and was the product of the sheeple not being able to accept Jesus' simple message of agape love and a personal relationship with Prime Creator with no need for a spiritual or political bureaucracy. His message was that our souls are actually a tiny spark of electromagnetic energy that are an actual piece of the body of Prime Creator. This soul spark is not extinguishable, but changes it's frequency after material death and probably reincarnates to try again to reach atonement with Prime Creator though exercising agape love and raising the frequency of and increasing the intensity of our electromagnetic soul sparks. The crucifixion mythology was a post Jesus construct of the Roman bureaucrats who supervised the rewrite of the Bible at the Council of Nicea. The Council of Nicea completed the transformation of Jesus' message from a liberation theology to an enslaving theology based on terrorizing blood sacrifice mythology and guilt inducing deism. It has been used by the Power Elites to control the sheeple ever since.
The real theology is not lost and the truth of Jesus' message will again be told as humanity evolves spiritually to a level sufficient to understand and incorporate true agape love into materiality.
That's simply what I believe. I'm not gonna force my beliefs on you.

...what you're describing is not exactly the "cornerstone of the Christian faith," but rather the cornerstone of ultra-Anselmian atonement theology, which Mel Gibson obviously subscribes to ("For sins to be forgiven, there had to be a blood sacrifice." -- MG). There are plenty of other completely orthodox (more orthodox, IMHO) atonement theologies within Christianity that don't turn Jesus into God's punching bag, set the Father's and the Son's wills against each other, or force them into an eternal "good cop, bad cop" routine, as I see the ultra-Anselmian version doing. I would recommend to you William Barclay's classic The Mind of Jesus, chapter 27, for futher study of this issue.
