Anyone else going to be at the April 19th shuttle launch?

1. I can see it from my front yard, weather permitting.

It's quite a thrill, even after so many years. But I have never traveled to the Cape for a launch.

2. It's going to be whiskers edge for us to get there.

About 5 hrs ride and we are leaving about 9 AM.

We have to find a place to park the truck but we'll have bikes to get to the planned watch site of that Cocoa Beach Jetty.

3. I'm on the opposite side of the state (on the Gulf) but

I can see it from where I am if the weather is reasonably clear. Can't hear it, but I can most definitely watch it.

You're right - can't hear it, but (especially) night launches are spectacular if it's mostly clear. We do hear the sonic booms, though, when it coming in to land. If I forget, it scares the crap out of me for a split second, before I realize what it was. Rattles the windows and scares the cats, too!

I'll probably have to wait for whatever/whenever the next spacecraft is.
