Our daughter and the middle school orchestra she is in made it to the Maryland State Orchestra Festival in early May.

Are you performing anymore this year? I have been traveling a lot the last couple of months and haven't followed much of what has been going on in Columbia. Ironically, I can see the Columbia River from my hotel in Washington State!

June 4th is our "Creation and Destruction" concert! We're performing Haydn's Creation in a joint venture with Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County, John Adams' "Batter My Heart", and Penderecki's "Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima". The programming was decided last year, before anyone realized how symbolic the Penderecki would be...

We also have a !!!FREE!!! chamber concert on May 21st at Christ Episcopal Church. I'll be playing Ravel's Sonate Posthume for violin and piano, Jason will perform Shostakovich's Sonata for cello and piano, and we'll be joined by two other orchestra members to perform Schumann's Piano Quintet to finish up the program. It'd be great if you and your daughter could come hear us play!
