Do you ever feel bad for the people at work who that is all they have because they're assholes...
Edited on Tue Apr-19-11 07:23 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
...and act like work is the end all be all? The senior where I work is like that. I got sick, she got to be senior, even though she was vastly less qualified. Anyway, so now, everything I do is wrong. My opinions are wrong, the way I do things are wrong and my decisions are overturned if she hears about them.
So, today I had a moment of clarity. I realized that all she has is that place. Her kids live at least 10 hours away, the other on the east coast, and all she has is that place here. So, I'm going to stop caring about work as anything more than work. I'll do what is expected of me, then go home. I have a husband and dogs who love me unconditionally here waiting for me. And all she has is work.
So even though I lose at work and lost everything I had worked for five years because illness negates all of the standing and seniority you've earned, I win because I get to come home to the greatest man in the world, and the sweetest puppies in the world. And that is good enough for me...

1. You are in a good place. That work problem is so temporary.
:)

2. Thanks!
I need the encouragement.
I hate to admit it, but sometimes I just need to be told that.

3. I worked with someone like that. I had the same attitude as you
and didn't let it get to me.

4. Oh, it's been a long time to get to this place.
And I just hope it works. I'm thinking of asking to switch departments.

5. You are so generous. I never feel bad for these kinds of people.
I suppose I should, but damn, they don't have to be such arrogant shits. You should always consider work as just work, you do a good job while you are there, and leave it behind. It took me way too many wasted years to learn that lesson.
