CNN: "Why the royal wedding matters" - IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER!
No, I didn't click on the link - I didn't want to give it the credibility. But the title alone says it all. FUCK the so-called "royal wedding". It's a legacy ritual piece of shit publicity stunt and idiots get all caught up in it. FUCK THAT NOISE! Have I used the word "fuck" enough in this post?

2. Well, I assume they will do that after the sorry-ass ceremony.
But they've probably already done it. I almost puked when I heard that they had a doctor certify that Diana was a virgin. Give me a FUCKING break. Who gives a shit?

5. It matters because the Royals publicly demonstrate the value of marriage-
just like Charles and Diana; Andrew and Fergie; the entire royal family of Monaco.

6. "The King's Speech", would have given my some compassion for the royals
If I didn't have this total mind-set that they embody the elitism that is destroying our humanity. This whole Christian/religious thing is just another way of saying some people, the believers are somehow different/better, because god loves them. The Jews started it, all that chosen people stuff. In Europe, the castles always have chapels built in, to show how close/important the owners are to the supreme being. The hideouts for the nazis in south America, also has churches next to them, this I consider, well, not the same, but somehow similar. Now I feel like I am due beer and travel money.

Who said: "Every poor man just believes he is a millionaire having a bad day."?

7. Hey, they need to build up the divorce somehow....
Now in 10 years they can look back at the beautiful dresses and the crowds in the streets while reporting on the divorce caused by William cheating.

8. It's just fun.
Women love all things "wedding." This is the biggest wedding in the world.

Thirty years ago, when my husband asked me why I was watching the Diana-Charles wedding in the middle of the night, I said the same thing: "It's just fun."

10. They're inbred leeches
Didn't we have a revolution 236 years ago so that we could rid ourselves of these pompous twits?

I remember all the hype over Charles and Diana. That marriage sure turned out great, didn't it?

It doesn't matter a bit, and I question the intelligence of any American who would be so obsequious towards the descendants of those we shook off.

11. That royal wedding is bringing in a ton of tourism money to London
Maybe you don't care and to be honest, I'm not too big of a deal about it but I will watch the wedding. And personally I think Wills and Kate have a much better chance of making the marriage work. First, Wills is marrying someone who he has dated for almost 6 years and was friends for a few years before that. Wills was never under any stress to marry a virgin of royal birth; whereas Charles was. So when Charles realized he had to marry he found the most appropriate royal virgin out there and wasn't too concern about whether they could make a marriage last. Personally I think Charles and Diana were a step above an arranged marriage.

Allowing the future king to marry his love and not based on stupid requirements is a major step forward to having a marriage last.

22. I think you're absolutely right, LynneSin...
The Royal Family trappings....Horseguards, history, palaces, crown jewels et al...have made England, and particularly London, hugely attractive to tourists from all over the world for a very long time. I can't believe that the "Family Business" isn't, on balance, a money-maker for the United Kingdom.
I'll watch the wedding. I am a sucker for weddings. And it's kind of sadly ironic that Wills has found his bride in a relatively modern and unstressed way...while his poor parents (and yeah, I have some sympathy for Charles, too) were enmeshed in a heartless arrangement of convenience that could have happened in the 15th Century.

Europe's monarchies are: the Principality of Andorra (technically a semi-elective diarchy), the Kingdom of Belgium, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Principality of Monaco, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Spain, the Kingdom of Sweden, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the State of the Vatican City (elective monarchy, styled a theocracy).

17. Unless someone is trying to be "politically correct" in a "global" sense...
...I feel that MANY people on the other side of the pond could give a flying fuck about the "royals" OR their "weddings."

There are only 24 hours in a day. We are in three wars, our economy sucks ASS, and I could give a shit about what brand of shoes Kate is wearing to her fucking wedding.

BUT...that said...many "adults" are still mesmerized by bright shiny objects waved in front of them (like "American Idol" and other such crap), and this is one of those objects.

18. I have a visceral feeling on such topics also.
Not sure why, but it does bother me.

Maybe the concept around royalty, or manufactured celebrity. It is something, it irritates me for some reason.

It use to be just something to ignore, but lately it has actually been irritating, so not sure whats up with that.

I do hope the best for any couple, regardless if common or not, and hope there marriage and life together goes well.

But there is something irritating about how some speak about it.

Shrug, might as well listen to music. I think Britney is Actually more royal, and find that interesting, and I don't think that by being a fan, just a feeling. Shrug.

So been thinking a bit on that topic trying to figure it out.

28. I disagree with your comment.
My comment was about people commenting about them.

I would guess they don't think they are special, and mostly think they are stuck with that position.

Some do some good, others not as much, like other people.

I don't say they are racist either, no evidence for that, maybe they are, but being in there position would not define that.

21. Geez don't you guys ever have any fun at all?
It's what people do, have been doing since time began. It's princes and princesses and pageantry and houses joining together and specualtion about breeding (past and future) and though I really don't care enough to follow I think it's just quintessential human nature to love a fairy tale. Heck half the stories we humans tell are about this kind of thing dressed up one way or another. These days in the UK it's just pomp, but at one time worlds turned on this kind of thing. Hell, half the sci-fi and fantasy in the world is built around it.

I think it's great fun and if the British people don't mind it, who am I to rain on their parade? I have to work on Friday, but if I was home I'm sure I'd tune in and watch the festivities for a bit.

It's an enjoyable thing for some people. I confess that, at 11, I got up early in the AM so I could watch in real time.

I also confess that I plan to do the same thing this time around. Sue me, I guess. :hi:

For what it's worth, I think she should wear the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland. My daughter is pulling for the Strathmore tiara.
