But my main means of locomotion is a Pontiac minivan and it moves out.

I really wanted one of those T-birds when they came out - yellow, too.

172K on the ticker. I would like to get a new used car, preferably one that gets decent mileage (Even with teh 4 banger, my car only averages 20ish) But, unfortunaltely I am in need of money to do so.

If I had 20 grand lying around. I'd get either one of the new Fiat 500s, the Ford Fiesta or a nice little number from one of the Japanese makes. I kinda like that Nissan Cube, myself.

11. 2000 Saab 9-3SE convertible
Bought it used about a year ago for a very reasonable amount, and it only had 76,000 miles on it. I got it when my Wrangler's transmission went kablooey with the intent that it would just tide me over till the Fiat 500 Abarths get here, but I LOVE it. Gonna be tough to part with it when the time comes.

36. I really do drive a Fiat Punto.
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 04:54 AM by Heidi
I want a smart, but our Punto is an excellent little car.

Ours is similar (same color, and four doors with hatchback) to this one but a little earlier model:

ETA: For my first 10 years here, I used public transportation and didn't own a car, but now there are circumstances that make it necessary for us to have a car: more work-related travel, a beloved cat who's almost 11 and needs more frequent vet care, etc.

31. 1994 Honda Accord EX with 205,000 on it
the back bumper's being held on by rust and it's leaking almost a quart of oil a day. Nothing like the smell of burning oil to make you sick sitting on I-71 in bumper-to-bumper traffic every day.

Glad the T-Bird is still going strong. I was afraid you'd lost her...

32. My toy bought new in 1998.....
....added some "extras", and still as much fun now as day one. 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T limited edition. I'd lower the frontend some more but it clears the curbs I keep forgetting about by around an inch. Not great on gas mileage, but trips and such are taken in the wife's 2006 Altima. Much easier on the pocket-book. Thanks.

Edited on Sun Apr-24-11 08:48 PM by TheCanadianLiberal
And no it's not a Prius.

My 2002 VW Jetta manual TDI gets a constant 45MPG. The car has 340,000KM looks new and runs like it too.

It costs about 70$ to fill from empty (In Canada fuel is more expensive then in the us, it would only cost about 50$) and I can often get close to 1100 km a tank.

Diesel IMO should be the fuel of tomorrow.

I'm not lying, this is the best most fuel efficient car I've ever owned. It may not be fast but it provides a lot of torque and power in that way.

Than gasoline.

The fuel economy is good. But that's because it requires more energy to produce.
