I honestly don't think Kate is another Diana, I think she is more like another Camila

Yes, I'm into the Royal Wedding and honestly, if you aren't please let's not get into arguments here.

Charles's first love, from what I have read, was Camila. But Camila was not considered 'suitable' to the Royal Family - who knows why but that's the kind of crap I could never figure out. Instead an older Charles, pressured to find a wife and had kids found the first suitable woman of royal blood who was virgin material. That was Diana - they were poorly matched from the start and Charles ended up cheating on her with the woman he did love - which was Camila.

I'm guessing the Queen is recognizing the mistake of not allowing Charles to marry who he loved and is allowing this marriage to go thru. Will has known Kate since he first attended College, they started off as good friends and fell in love. Sure there were fights but in the long run he knew she was the right one. Poor Will probably knew firsthand just how miserable Charles and Diana was. Now for the last decade he's seen how happy his father was once he was able to marry the woman he loved (Camila).

I think Will picked Kate and the Queen is allowing this for a simple reason - all that royal protocol of marrying royalty & virgins is bullshit - in the end Love always wins.

It's much better for all concerned if they get to marry who they love, and not someone considered "suitable."

I think Charles treated Diana horribly. Of course, I wasn't in their marriage, so what do I know? He could've been the long-suffering hero of the whole affair.

But I do think it's ridiculous for someone to limit their choices based on some kind of silly archaic criteria. And I would never condone a marriage to someone you were not in love with, especially if there was someone else, available or not, that you did love.

FWIW, I think it's unfair for people to compare Kate to Diana. (Or worse, to the image of Diana they have in their minds.)

We don't really know what goes on in the lives of celebrities, be they politicians or movie stars.

For years, people believed JFK and Jackie had such a fairytale marriage. Much later, the public discovered he was quite the philanderer.

The general public also believed at one time that Charles and Diana had a fairytale marriage. That was way back in the early days of the marriage.

I don't know any more than anyone else what really went on. But Diana was young and beautiful, and Charles was neither--which didn't help his case.
