6. See, now, I have to disagree.
I didn't like the dress or the hair or the headpiece.

She looked like a Maid from the 1800s.

She should have worn her hair up, showed a bit more skin and chucked that thing on her head.

Sorry, but it's 2011.

IMHO

10. Naw, I don't like that dress either
Maybe a happy medium?

I just didn't like the dress.

I am engaged...I have been looking at alot of dresses. There are alot of other dresses out there that aren't strapless that I like much better than Kate's.

Again, JMHO

11. That 'thing on her head' was on loan to her by the Queen
Edited on Fri Apr-29-11 08:08 AM by LynneSin
kinda of hard to ditch something that is one of the Crown Jewels that was first worn by Queen Victoria when your future mother-in-law (and current Queen of England) offers it to you to wear.

13. I loved it!
Beautiful, simple & classy. If I see another strapless wedding dress, I'll vomit. :puke: I hope this is a step away from the "stripper bride" look.

My wedding dress had sheer lace button sleeves, too.

39. You hit the nail on the head, Beyond..
The bride wore the dress, it didn't wear her! I'll remember her happy face much longer than I remember the details of the dress.
For detail mongers, I think it's more accurate to say she wore her hair half up, half down. So we got her full face, plus the effect of all the lovely long flow at the back.
I'm sure she'll be thrilled to hear that I approve.

Such a much-needed change from the "every bride must wear a strapless dress" business that's been going on for a decade.

20. I guess.
I've never really cared for "traditional" wedding dresses, at least in this country (or anywhere that goes with the white gown.)

Now, Indian wedding dresses definitely appeal to my senses :D

25. So do I!
I see many Indian women in saris here. We've got a huge Indian population, so if you eat or shop at middle eastern places, you'll see them. Or just go shopping in the Indian section of town and the "sari palaces" :D

24. I think it was beautiful and appropriate for the setting.
Diana's dress, in retrospect, strikes me as hideous -- a frothy, poofy, unflattering and way overdone piece of 80s excess:

27. Hmmph! It's so hard getting good help nowadays. Did the tailor think
the backs of Kate's legs were two meters longer than the fronts? I'm not the only one who noticed: that guy in red is slapping his forehead in disbelief

But I can tell from her grin that she at least had the good wits to wear some comfortable old gutties under all that

30. It suited her and has that timeless look that a formal wedding painting needs.
Beading aside, it looks like a dress that any woman might choose. Not splashy...well in keeping with "austerity measures"

32. Very nice.
I wish I could see a picture of the back and a close up of the lace, from the description I read.

I have never heard of "gazar". It's obviously silk. From seeing the dress and the pleats I would think it was like taffeta on a bit stiffer and heavier.

People forget that silk, cotton, wool, and linen are fibers, and they vary greatly in appearance depending on the weave.
"Gazar" is a weave I had never heard of until today.

Examples of weaves are: batiste, charmeuse, crepe, Jacquard crepe, taffeta, broadcloth, twill, jersey knit, double knit. There are hundreds.

I like the lace top and sleeves.

Everybody is a fashion critic. That's my 2c.

I also loved the TREES in Westminster Abbey and the green and white color scheme for the flowers.

For those who don't realize it (see above), Pippa is ... too skinny.
Somebody should take her out for some food.
