1. Keep the SV. It cost less to ride, license, insure and maintain.
You couldn't ask for a better back and forth to work bike than an suzuki SV650. Harleys are stolen more than other bikes.

3. In NC, it is the same price to insure
my Harleys as it has been for other makes I have insured. The Harley EVO motor, with regular oil changes etc., can last to 100,000 miles or better. My only advice on purchasing a Harley, buy a used one, they are drastically cheaper than 'off the showroom floor' and usually you can find the kind you want with low mileage and below blue book value. I just found a 2001 sporty 1200 for a friend for $2800 and it is loaded with chrome and only has 7200 miles on it.....check your local craigslist.

2. I really don't know.
The only criteria I would consider is which one is superior in being relatively quiet! ;)
(I have to put up with a neighbor that has some horribly noisy motor-"thing" loud enough to make me jump every time he starts it.)

5. Tell that...
Edited on Sat Apr-30-11 12:18 AM by quickesst
...to one of my best friends, who has worked construction all his life, is a brilliant blues musician, has spent all his off time working in clubs, bars, etc to an enthusiastic crowd, and who I am honored to have known in my lifetime as one of the greatest human beings I have ever encountered. His name is Steve "Jelly" Brown". He is my friend, and he rides and loves his Harley. I am nearing sixty, and I still aspire to own, and ride one with him. Thanks.

12. I rode a '73 from '75 until I was married in '88 when I was 38
redone TWICE cosmetically and my friend STILL owns it and has made it into a 70's cop bike since it's an antique now, and he has been riding since the 60's.

What a completely obnoxious and ignorant ASSertion.

7. I love the sound of a Harley.
Unmistakable. No other sound like it in the world. And also they're beautiful.

8. None of the above
Get a Roadstar. Looks better, sounds better, rides (way) better than a Harley. You'll spend less at the showroom and way less at the repair shop.

Except for the position of the dirtbag.

15. Your SV650
outperforms the Sportster by every single measurable. It out accelerates, out brakes, handles far better, has a faster top speed and gets better fuel economy than the Sportster. The Sportster is attractive, however.
