6. Yep, many persecuted white people have existed and will continue to exist
You could say they have had much less of a battle in this country than others, but you can't say that persecution has only been along gender or racial lines.

9. The right not to be stereotyped as simply a 'Straight WM'.
In fact, the battled is still engaged, we are all still fighting to be judged as individuals rather than as a 'Straight WM' or a 'Gay BF' etc.

22. The right to vote?
I think that would count. It wasn't until the 1820s, fifty years after the Revolution, that all US citizens were allowed to vote (citizens being white men, regardless of sexual orientation). Before that time, property restrictions limited the franchise only to the wealthy.

24. The rights of others? I have a vested interest in them
I can't think of a right that has been denied me *because* I'm a straight white male, but I can think of instances in which being a straight white male hasn't excluded me from being opressed. Being called "faggot" in High School wasn't prevented by being a straight white male. Being called "trailer-trash" is probably at least partly a function of being white. Just because those societal labels do not lead to discrimination towards me in general it does not nessecarily follow that as a straight white male I've never had to fight for my rights. There was the little matter of the restraunt I worked at where the hispanic kids specifically exluded me from having bacon for breakfast one day. Not that I want to make a big deal about it, but that is an example of being treated unfairly because of who I am.

33. The right to enter his county courthouse
The straight WM in question uses a wheelchair.

http://www.raggededgemagazine.com/drn/tennvlane011204.html

Disability rights activists plan to crawl up the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court at 9 a.m.tomorrow as oral arguments begin in the case Tennessee v. Lane. Activists in San Diego, Sacramento, Memphis and cities in Texas will be "Crawling for Justice" at federal court houses as well.

"The event is intended to illustrate the humiliation George Lane and others have been forced to endure," says ADAWatch.. Lane, one of the plaintiffs, had to crawl up the stairs to a Tennessee courtroom because the courthouse, like many in Tennessee, was not accessible, in violation of Title 2 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Lane, who lost a leg in a traffic accident, went to the Polk County courthouse in September 1996 to answer charges of driving with a revoked license.

36. The right not to be company property. The right not to be killed on a job.
The right to not have to work as a child. The right to collective bargaining. The right to make a living wage. The right to worship (or not) as he chooses. The right to not take up arms and kill if his spiritual background prevents him from doing so. The list is long.

There have always been WEALTHY straight WM, and then there are the rest of us. True, we may not have all the cards in the deck stacked against us, but it has been a long, historic haul for *all* who have had to fight for a decent living in this world.

40. Yeah, this is pretty ridiculous
One can support the rights of minorities, and women, etc, and not also have to shit on white men. This country was founded by persecuted white men, after all.

And I suppose that not everyone considers Jewish people to be caucasian, but lord knows Jews have had to fight for their rights constantly.

Point being, let's try to be constructive instead of starting "bash whitey" posts like this one.
