Does your DU radar go up when it's an "I need help countering
this e-mail..." post?

Mine does--I tend to ignore them unless I'm familiar with the poster. Am I too suspicious?

1. Not as much as, "I'm as PC as the next guy..."
Or "The thing about you people" or "I have many minority friends..."

6. "You people" and "those people" are sure tip-offs,
as are comments like "I have nothing against gays, but...."

3. You're probably justified much of the time
But other times it's probably legit.

BTW, how's your husband? I was on vacation last week and may have missed any updates.

7. NOT CANCER! It was an infection, after all that worry.
I'd be angry, but I'm way too relieved to let it bother me.

12. Great news!
I'm leaving work in a few minutes and now I have an excuse to swill a celebratory beer! Thanks!

4. The enemy is everywhere...
The wombat sails at midnight on a ship of badgers.

Beware the eagle eating spinach!

ROFL! :P

I am suspicious of everyone on the internet though.

I just take them on face value though, nod my head and reply as best I can and remember that there is a 99.9% chance they are a liar.

19. Well, it's a very cute one indeed, but apparently I AM out of the
loop.

Oh, dear; I wondered why my shoe phone hadn't rung lately.

Oh, dear.

5. No, you are not too suspicious.
Don't forget to alert on anyone you think is here to disrupt.

9. Not all the disrupters intend to disrupt, imo.
I think a number of them think of themselves as progressive. They don't seem to have a clue about how clueless they are, if that makes sense.

Maybe it's better to engage some in conversation, rather than simply toss them. After all, we are trying to win the hearts and minds of the swing voters, right?

Maybe not. Sometimes I get tired of being patient, myself. I don't blame others for getting frustrated.

11. I think you have a good point. I proceed with caution,
but if it seems sincere, I'll jump in.

16. Sometimes I'm clueless about how clueless I am
But I do think some people here hold their fellows to a pretty high standard of progressivism. For example their doesn't seem to be a lot of give on the traditionally black vs. white issues like abortion and gun control. Sometimes I think that people here are looking for an absolutist litmus test and unfortunately there is none. Maybe if they act like complete jerks, but then again I'm not entirely innocent of that either.

17. There is no harm in alerting.
The mods are not going to just tombstone someone because you alert them. But if it is an obvious diruptor, or a returning disruptor, they can't take action unless they know about it.

13. Hmm - sort of, - - but my "radar" REALLY goes up
.
.
.

When there is either NO profile, or a very limited one - -

especially when gender is "undeclared"

I have no idea what that is about

I don't check profiles as a routine,

but if I'm about to respond to a post that could be controversial,

yeah, I check then - -

OH I should say too, If I think a person is "right on"

I "check them out" too!

:silly:

20. Profiles
You mean you trust a profile for evidence of a poster's veracity?

If they are gonna lie here they sure as hell will lie on their profile, eh?

As for the idea of taking time to read copy of what a nasty puke has written..... I skip it. Not enough time to read that crap and besides it's everywhere else already. DU is a refuge. Thank gawd!

.
.
.

Heck - I even read Chimpy's site ,

doesn't mean I believe it -

but it is educational just to check it out -

even if it is lies - -

That's my take on it anyhoo -

14. I dunno
I like to ask for help on occasion. I'm on another board, off-DU, where there are a couple of really stupid repugs whose comments are driving me (almost) to drink. One of the Duers took me up on the offer some time ago, and is now a regular poster on that political forum as well. Sometimes, I just find it very difficult to repeat the logic over and over and over again, when sometimes I think I'm only preaching to the choir. It's one of the reasons I'm on DU more lately--I'm thinking of giving up with frustration because the repukes there are so stupid and can't see what's literally in front of them.

So, yeah--I ask for help on occasion--these hoohahs are too thick to rationalize about the truth.
