Air America Radio: Democratic Party Business as Usual
by The Glorious Revolutionary Federation of Fortune 500 Killers

<snip>

Scholars at the Glorious Revolutionary Federation of Fortune 500 Killers's Research Bureau announced their Preliminary Federation Assessment of Air America Radio, the new self-described "liberal" radio network that debuted today. "It sounded like an 11-hour ad for the Democratic Party," said one Senior Federation Research Analyst.

"We hope it fails." Shrill hosts and guests like sell-out filmmaker Michael Moore, who supported war criminal Wesley Clark in Clark's failed bid for President, lined up to chastise independent Presidential candidate Ralph Nader.  An intellectual non-entity named Randi Rhodes, who hosts one of the network's shows, yelled at Nader himself during her broadcast.  Rhodes later cut off a caller who attempted to discuss non-Nader reasons behind Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore's loss in 2000.

The Research Bureau further found Air America Radio's attempt to portray Nader as a radical absolutely laughable.

"While we admire many of Nader's endeavors, his tactical approach has always been extremely top down and centered upon himself and a few right-hand 'leaders' of his," one analyst said.  "He also advocates a fundamentally legalistic-reformist solution that exists safely within capitalist bounds and not seizure and redistribution of the ruling-class's assets."

7. Funny, that's how I felt, too (almost "normal"), reading these guys. They
are from another planet--the new one, the one farther than Pluto. Dream on, Federation!

2. The funny thing about groups like this is
they think Clark is a war Criminal, but the murderers in Rawanda aren't.

4. I'm guessing you posted this in the Lounge
because these people are a joke. More purists who refuse to be pleased.

Am I wrong in thinking that Nader is the one who has portrayed himself as a radical?

5. You guessed right
And I am a former Nader supporter. He looks really bad in this light.

Yes, there are purists. To be fair, we need them. To be fair, when they are ridiculous we need to call them on it.

6. I guess the author
likes being a put upon loser, satisfied with letting the Repukes retain power while he takes what he percieves as the high road.

Of course while we suffer with the repukes in charge, other people overseas don't get to complain about it....they just get invaded bombed and killed.

We need to pull together, kick Nader to the curb and WIN!

Anything less is failure, inconvenient for us, disastrous for the poor slobs in places that happen to have oil and brown people.

9. This looks like a front for Karl Rove
Make a fake "liberal" site that is composed of asinine strawman arguments, then point to it and say "see what those liberals have come up with?"
Of course, they could be real. If they are, they're a bunch of pretentious twits...

14. That particular thing, yes.
The article as a whole, no. It seemed to me that the article was trying to portray Nader as better, more realistic choice than Kerry. Maybe they actually do believe that; I'm sure some of the voters do, but remember that there have been reports that the RNC is backing Nader financially in an effort to try and split off voters. So, the possibility that this is at least backed by the RNC orcs is there, IMO.

16. Doubtful
The idea behind the RNC backing Nader is that he'd swipe 10x the votes from the Dems than the Repubs, maybe more.

13. Well, I would like some independent voices on there
but with an election coming on I fully expect to hear a lot of Pro DNC and Kerry talk. I can live with that.

Can live with it even more if folks call in and explain where they feel the DNC might want to shore up their tactics and ideologies. Not shred them, just point out other progressive ideas that they may not be talking up right now. (Or that they are, like Dennis does, but the message isn't reaching everyone.)
