Logan's Run TV show - who watched it, and what do you remember?
I have only the barest memory of the TV show, but I know the original story and the movie.

Was the TV show utter shit, as I would expect, since it's not really a story that would lend itself well to a weekly series (unless done intelligently, which I'm sure, given the culture of the 70s and American culture which demands that every half hour or hour show wrap itself up neatly, ala Buck Rogers or other shows, and eschew any sense of just being a long, delicious, wondrous continuing story)? Or was it actually pretty good?

it's such an incredible story, and always relevant whenever republicans are in charge of the country, but I was so young when the show came out and have never seen it in reruns, I'm curious if it was any good.

1. Better or worse than "V: The Series?"
Was it better or worse than "V: The Series?" I don't remember the 70's, as I was too young. Though I distinctly remember voting for Carter in our school poll...

2. I never watched "V' either
when that series came out, I was old enough to be working nights after school and involved in a lot of school activities. I bet I saw, toto, about 10 minutes of "V".

3. I remember their big ugly-ass car..

It looked like it was made of silver-spraypainted plywood. Also, didn't they have a C3PO-like robot?

5. Yeah, that car
sucked. I remember thinking how I could make it with some plywood and spray paint. The TV show completely ruined the movie.

RUNNER!

4. I'm with you...
I barely remember it. Guess they were trying to ride the TV series of Planet of the Ape's wave. Weak!

6. Fundamental Difference from the movie was...
in the pilot episode, it was established that there was a human "Council of Elders" who secretly ran everything, (and consequently living to a ripe old age), who were afraid Logan would spill the beans, so his former partner Francis was sent out to kill him, on the promise of being allowed to live beyond "Last Day" as well. (i supposed you could argue there's a political message in there someplace) In the movie, apparently the computer was in charge of everything, with the Sandmen carrying out its orders.

The other primary difference was that the TV show had nothing to do with the "City of Domes" society, and focused instead on the apparently endless numbers of people still living outside the Dome, in different societal formats, with our heros running into a new group every week.

My recollection was that this was fairly crappy 70's Sci Fi, with limited special effects, that quickly blurred the line between what could realisticly be considered a post-apocalyptic society, and any number of visting alien stories that could just as easily have shown up on "Fantastic Journey"
