2. isn't there one online that compares companies and rates etc?
I am sure I have seen something like that advertised. (I never pay attention to ads)

3. if you are over 45....
...you can get up to $25,000 from Mutual of Omaha with NO questions. The proviso is that the policy does not pay in full if you die in the first two years, but will pay the total of your premiums plus 10 percent. After two years it is fully funded.

Monthly premium for $10,000 for a 45-49 year old man is $32.50.

Coverage will be issued immediately (with that proviso above)

$25,000 would be the total of three policies with them: ten, ten and five grand. I currently hold two policies for ten grand and am adding the five.
