Were you dodging tornadoes this day in 1974?
We got slammed and so did half of the country. I think there were around 130 or so tornadoes in one day. It was a very long night. Anybody actually see one or was affected by one that day?

I still have nightmares!

On edit: This was probably the worst tornado of that fateful day in more ways than one.

5. One of my dormmates was from Xenia.
She had a lot to say about that day - how she will never forget the noise of all those sirens of ambulances stuck in traffic due to debris and no way to get to the hurt.

3. I remember that!
Cut quite a swath through Estill Springs and Tullahoma TN. Mowed trees down like they were matchsticks.

4. not then -- it was an earthquake that year
2/9/74, my mother's 30th birthday and the day of the great Sylmar Earthquake. Scary.

Dodged a tornado almost two years ago here in So. Maryland, though. An F-5 went through La Plata, cutting a swath and killing seven people about 4 miles as the crow flies away from our house. We only had a little damage.

I admire anyone who loves tornado country so much that they brave the storms to stay there.
