Poll question: Am I putting my health at risk? |
|
I just took some Costco-brand ibuprofen with an expiration date of 11/2001.
Am I putting my health at risk?

expiration dates for pain relievers usually mean that the overall effectiveness of the product has been reduced...it loses its potency. You shouldn't run into any health related risks.

I asked my mum the same question last night.
She's recently taken ibuprofin as far back as 1999. No problems there.
Worst case scenario is the drug won't be as potent, but it'll work.
If you make a diet out of ibuprofin, your kidneys will eventually break down. I know someone who needs both her kidneys replaced (and too much ibuprofin was the culprit... And I don't qualify as a donor because I've needed to take a diet of the drug myslef to help with muscle inflammation... I'd love to have given one as I'm the same rare lbood type as her... That and being on antidepressants ruled me out too. Of course, if they'd known I was a male homo, even a nonpracticing one, they'd have kicked me out too just like the Red Cross would.)

3. I don't think there is a risk. But I'm not a med pro. I do know that a |

rule of thumb is to discard aspirin that gives off a vinegary odor or is crumbly. Hope all is well.
