Your five biggest musical guilty pleasures
Mine:

Shania Twain (those hooks go beyond genres, and that peppy voice is irresistible to me)

Rachel Farris (Her voice is just too little girl-ish - but I find myself enjoying her album Soak, which I give a B-. She does have writing talent, and she wrote the lyrics and music.)

Tim McGraw (hard to explain this one)

Stella Soleil (really fun!)

Phil Collins (A bit sappy, but earnest at least. And his arrangements enhance the music, unlike with Celine Dion. Although Dance Into The Light had pretty cheesy world-beat stuff.)

I didn't list artists like ABBA and Avril Lavigne because I find them pleasures, not guilty pleasures. Sometimes Britney Spears is, but not enough to make my list.

2. Hm
NIN--some of it I grew up with, and I still say their live shows are extremely good. It is very goofy stuff, though. :D

Pink Floyd--I constantly have to defend this one to my musical-freak friends.

Bauhaus--not a Goth in any shape or form, but some of their songs are neat.

ELO--not too guilty a pleasure, but they really tarnished their memory in the late seventies and early eighties.

14. Dean Martin, Boddy Darin, and Frank Sinatra should NOT be...
..."guilty" pleasures for anyone! They were very talented singers who made a lot of good records.

Engelbert Humperdinck, however, is another story.

8. I couldn't really come up with anything
I guess there is a big difference between feeling guilty and being guilty, but when it comes to music, if I like it, I like it, I'm not gonna feel guilty about it.

Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 12:26 AM by SarahBelle
like Matchbox20, Natalie Umbruglia, and gasp....I liked Green Day when they first became popular about 9 years ago (not totally into them and I know they're poser punk, but I still don't think they're that terrible.

I absolutely adore all the female singer songwriter Lillith Fair-ish stuff too.

27. Guilty pleasures?
Right now? At this moment? Oh, probably:

Roni (the Israeli equivalent of Britney Spears) because she sings reasonably slowly and uses simple words, so I can actually understand whole *phrases* of her songs!

And speaking of which,

Britney Spears, "Toxic," which would be a *great* song if anyone else were singing it (but even a stopped clock is right twice a day);

the folk-rock guy whose name I don't know whom I keep hearing on Galgalatz, sings "Shurukh Blues" -- he's *way* too folkie for me normally, but his guitar work is to *die for*!

CCR

Rachel Stevens, specifically "Sweet Dreams (My LA Ex)" -- it's *really* short on substance, but it's *all* style!
