Hey, you DU Lounge Tech Experts, I need your help!!! I'm at my wits end here...
Okay, here's the deal. I'm a horrible dork who wants to be able to connect my Nintendo DS to WIFI for various purposes. Unfortunately, my DS can't connect to WIFI through my router because of its security settings.

In order to circumvent this problem, I purchased a Realtek 802.11 b/g/n Wireless USB Adapter. The idea being that once properly configured, I would be able to connect my DS to WIFI. The device was cheap, much cheaper than the Nintendo version. The bulk of customer reviews I read said that it worked with connecting the DS, but it was very difficult to accomplish.

With that in mind, I installed the software of Adapter, restarted my computer, and...nothing.

Nothing at all. I can plug the USB Adapter into my computer, and it'll make a sound acknowledging that I plugged something in, but on my system tray it says 'no realTEK 11n USB Wireless LAN'...as if I hadn't plugged anything at all into the computer. I have searched the internet high and low for a solution but have come up with nothing. I realize that many of you here are much more technically adept than I am, and might have a clue as to why my computer doesn't think this damn thing exists, and an idea to fix it.

Would simply tracking down the latest drivers help? I heard one possible solution was uninstalling and reinstalling the device until it finally starts working. I'm just not sure. Help!!!

1. Kick. I would try a Google search to see if someone else has tackled this idea.
There might even be a youtube how-to!

Good luck.

2. No luck with google or youtube. People on Amazon had all kinds of suggestions...
just none that specifically addressed the problem I am having!

3. If you go into Device Manager, does the adapter show up in that list?
You can find Device Manager in the Control Panel. Device Manager should show a list of all the hardware connected to your computer. If there are specific pieces of hardware that Windows is having a hard time recognizing, the device will have an icon next to it that looks like a yellow exclamation point.

My question is: why can't you connect the DS to your wireless router? It may be easier to configure the router to allow the DS to connect than it would be to setup a USB adapter on your computer that connects the DS.

5. I'd have to seriously mess with the security settings of my router.
The issue is my router's security configuration is incompatible with a DS...and changing that would be very difficult and time consuming.

4. 'no realTEK 11n USB Wireless LAN' sounds like it's not finding the network
Is your router 11g instead of 11n?

Another possibility: try rebooting with the usb device already plugged in

9. I don't understand what this reviewer is saying
but 49 out of 51 people found the review helpful. ;)
In Glowstuff's review- how he/she connected DS using that Realtek adapter. Maybe you already saw this one and tried these instructions.
