I've lived in Tucson for 13 years, but this took me by surprise. |
|
. . . Last Wednesday, a hospital driver from UMC drove me 15 mins away to the rehab center. That Handi-Van never cooled down. . . . Today, the same driver took me from rehab to UMC for an appointment. "Man", says I, "it's cool in here compared to last week." . Well," says she, "it WAS 109-110 degrees that day.".
"True," says I, "how hot is it today?" . "Oh...it's only 106 degreea." . . . .

ONLY 106 degrees???
Good god.
Hopefully it's dry heat. That does help, a little!
I'm thinking you're feeling better...

101.6 INSIDE, Monday 116.8 outside - right now it is a pleasant 81.9 in, 77.6 out
I hope to dog that is over! now we steam at a lower temp, but the fans work better
had 14/100th here at the house but a neighbor ~ 3 miles away said they got 1/2 inch so I am curious to go check the rain gauge closer to them (I have three I track) but we are having vehicle problems this morning. Think the "spare" truck prefers dry and dusty to humid and moist - won't start for shit this morning. M is out there getting more and more pissed off. I came in to sit in front of the fan and play on the computer. I will have to jump up and look busy if he comes in. Maybe I should put the vacuum by the front door and turn it on? :hide:

8. If they allow it, you should vacuum the pets. |
|
. . . When you're really, really hot, a vacuum cleaner feels really, r-r-r-really good. . . . um... you know... or so I've heard. . . . . . . . I think I just came out of the closet. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The utility> closet. . . .

10. oddly, the cats don't mind the noise (never really tried to touch them with it) |
|
but Lupe heads for the hills. she doesn't like the blender, mixer, drills or the air compressor either although she will put up with the compressor because it means GOING FOR A RIDE!!!
the fans in the house are tolerated too
(oh and the mental image of you with a dustbuster is rather disturbing, thankyouverymuch)

7. yeah, but the lightning storms last night were pretty cool huh? |
|
We moved here last Dec. from the S.F. bay7 area and, frankly, I find 106 here about equal to 90 there. It's hot, but not unbearable.

9. If you REALLY like lightning, Tucson is the place to be. |
|
. . . I have never seen lightning as varied during a single storm... and only once did I see it more intense (in the Mid-West on an Interstate flanked by hills... I pulled over -- as everyone did -- but got OUT of my car to be a real part of it) . . . . . . . . . . . . Yes... I WAS howling. . . .
