When did you discover that you were full of shit?

I did about forty years ago. I came to the realization that in all likelihood my parents, teachers, and others that had tried to influence and guide me really did know more about life and living it than I did.

I'm still full of shit, I just know it now.

I didn't listen -- because I already knew they were all full of shit

Then it kinda dawned on me that maybe I shouldn't always ignore what somebody else says just because that person is full of shit: they might have something to say anyway

So I started letting people know: Look, I know you're full of shit, but I'm gonna try to listen to what you say anyway, just in case you say something worthwhile now and then

It turns out that what they most want to say is how full of shit they think I am
