Amazing Women's World Cup game
Is anybody following Women's World Cup soccer? Yesterday's two games were wonderful. France edged England on penalty kicks. Then the motivated, skillful and highly underrated Japanese team knocked off heavily favored Germany in the last few minutes of overtime. The women on the team said before the game that they want their country to be inspired by their perseverance. The NY Times documents their major accomplishment here:

Today the USA meets Brazil at 11 ET.

2. I am watching USA-Brazil now and am completely incensed.
Not by the red card so much but about the re-call on the penalty kick. Completely shitty call. Uncalled for.

4. Recall on the penalty kick was ridiculous
Why don't the refs just award Brazil the game if this is how they're going to officiate. Horrific call.

3. I've watched almost every gam...it's effin' AWESOME
Quite frankly, in some ways it is far more exciting than the Men's WC.

They play for scoring more than for possession, and there are about 1/20th the number of dives.

It's really been remarkably good soccer.

Never gave up. Played 55 minutes down a player. Absolutely fabulous performance!

...when it looked like it was hopeless for the Americans. And awakened to hear it was one of the most exciting Women's World cup games ever... What happened?

9. Wow, I just saw the playback...
I'm going to be taping the game when it replays tonight...

This has been a compelling weekend. I hope the quarterfinals are just as dramatic.

7. Amazing that we managed to overcome both the Brazilians AND the officials.
I think there was literally steam coming out of my ears there for a while.

8. I've seen a lot of poorly called games, from Club to MLS, but this was the worst.
Unbelievable. Even the AR's were bad. How the hell do you get to that level and be that crappy?
